2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 Review

The Ford F250 is a versatile truck that can be used as a workhorse in the toughest conditions known to man, while also being a reliable daily driver. This heavy-duty truck has just been updated and is now up for sale as the 2023 Ford F250 Super Duty.

Features

The Ford Super Duty is officially in its 5th generation that has been launched this year. There are 5 trim levels available along with a choice of 3 engines – two are powered by gasoline while one is diesel-powered.

The F250 has been redesigned completely. You get a new exterior and powertrain options on the outside; on the inside, there’s a whole new cabin that awaits you, filled with features.

Powertrain and Numbers

The basic powerplant propelling the 2023 F250 Super Duty is a 6.8-liter V8 engine. It makes 405 hp and 445 lb-ft. The second engine is a 7.3-liter V8 that makes 430 hp and 485 lb-ft that’s available on all the models except the XL.

You also get a pair of diesel powertrains to choose from. Ford offers a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel engine that produces 475 hp and a whopping 1,050 lb-ft. You can get an even higher-output version of this with an insane 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft.

All these engines come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The power is sent to a 4-wheel drive system. The F250 2023 can tow up to 22000 lbs if you equip it right and haul a payload of more than 3000 lbs.

We’re unaware of the EPA’s ratings for this truck as it doesn’t rate trucks that are this heavy. However, the 2023 F250 Super Duty should be more efficient than last year’s model which could do at least 15 mpg on the highway.

Interior and Technology

The all-new Super Duty F250 2023 gets a handsome interior that is roomy and is built ergonomically. The build quality is solid and it, along with the whole cabin, becomes even more so when you move up the trim levels. The cubby storage deserves a fair amount of praise.

The following are the trim levels of the 2023 Ford F250 and their standard features:

2023 F250 XL

The base model is built for rugged usage but it still doesn’t skip out on the goods. You get air-con and heating, a 4.2-inch instrumentation screen, cruise control, and more. There are many optional extras available but we’re not done with the standard features yet.

There’s an 8-inch infotainment screen mated to 4 speakers to keep you entertained and two power points for connectivity. The safety systems include trailer sway control and a rearview camera.

2023 F250 XLT

Then we have the XLT which adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an extra power point, and several more options. For safety, you now get a bunch of new standard systems which include automated emergency braking, intersection assist and reverse parking sensors.

2023 F250 Lariat

The F250 Lariat is where things start to get really good, beginning with the leather-trimmed seats, and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel. You also upgrade to dual-zone climate control, remote start, and a wireless charging pad.

You get 8-way heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable front seats. If you get the crew cab, the rear seats are also heated. There’s now a 12-inch touchscreen and satellite navigation. You also get front parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, along with a 360-degree camera.

2023 F250 King Ranch

The 2023 Super Duty F250 King Ranch comes with a beautiful interior and some more luxurious add-ons. These include a head-up display, an 18-speaker sound system from B&O, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.

This one also comes with upfitter switches that allow you to connect your tools to the truck and harness its power on the worksite. It also comes with Ford’s Pro Power Onboard system that allows your truck to act as a generator.

2023 F250 Platinum

The Platinum trim level makes some minor changes to the safety department, the upholstery, and the exterior.

Finally, we have the 2023 Ford F250 Limited which comes with all of the above, plus goodies like adaptive cruise control (w/lane centering), 10-way power adjustability for the driver’s seat, and a twin-panel moonroof.

Exterior and Driving

The F250 2023 gets an all-new exterior that reminds us of the new F-Series. It has a larger-than-life aura about it. The truck is available in 3 cab types – Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab. There are two truck bed sizes offered – 8 and 6.75 feet.

The Ford Super Duty 2023 is quite powerful and you also get a commanding seating position. It doesn’t feel like a three-quarter-ton truck as it handles quite well based on its size. You also get numerous driving modes based on the type of terrain you’re on.

Reliability and Warranty

As far as reliability is concerned, the Ford Super Duty usually has a reputation for being quite dependable and lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. In this case, because it is new, JD Power hasn’t given it a predicted reliability rating yet. Still, the consumer reviews are positive.

The limited warranty covers 3 years/6k miles while the powertrain warranty covers 5 years/60k miles. If you opt for a diesel powertrain, you get a powertrain warranty that’s good for 5 years/100k miles.

Verdict

The 2023 Ford Super Duty F250 is proving to be a banger thanks to its high power, excellent engine options, and superb towing and payload abilities. Ford has also done a marvelous job of improving the design of the exterior and interior.

The trim levels are impressive as the truck caters to those that are looking for a rugged workhorse and those who want a big truck to drive around in with their friends and family for recreation. Each variant comes equipped nicely with all the amenities that one could require.
