Ford F150

The Ford F-Series is the ultimate pickup truck and has been since its launch. It is known for offering a lot of power and durability on the outside and a comfortable cabin on the inside. As a result, it’s America’s best-selling vehicle of all time.

The 2023 Ford F150 is one of the best fullsize pickups today, and its XLT model is a popular choice for those looking to buy a workhorse that offers the best optional extras. Hence, the following is a review of the 2023 Ford F150 XLT:

Features

The current generation of the F150 was launched last year and has turned into another success story from Ford. The F150 offers 9 different trim levels, with the XLT being a step above the base model. It offers 4 engine options which include a hybrid and there are no updates this year.

Powertrain and Numbers

The standard engine on the 2023 Ford F150 is a 3.3-liter V6 that makes 290 hp and 265 lb-ft. You can also upgrade to have a 5-liter V8 under the hood, which will produce 400 hp and 410 lb-ft. Another option is a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 that makes 325 hp and 400 lb-ft.

There’s also a 3.5-liter hybrid V6 engine offered that makes 430 hp and 570 lb-ft. All the engines mentioned will come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission (a separate version is offered for the hybrid). The standard drivetrain is rear-wheel drive; four-wheel drive is optional.

The truck is hence a quick one, especially if you choose the right powertrain for the job. For example, the hybrid engine can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just about 5 seconds. The base engine also does well here, taking less than 8 seconds to do the same.

The 2023 F150 is a class leader when it comes to towing. Naturally, the XLT trim is able to do well here – equip it right and it can tow as much as 14000 lbs. The maximum payload capacity is also astounding at 3250 lbs.

Then we have the fuel economy ratings, where the hybrid engine does the best. It can deliver up to 25 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. The 2.7-liter engine will do up to 20 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. The base engine is good for 19 mpg city and 24 highway.

Interior and Technology

This generation of the F150 has a handsome interior design that’s also ergonomical and luxurious. The quality of the materials used is high, even on the lower trims. All the occupants should be able to enjoy plenty of legroom and headroom.

Then we have the in-cabin storage, which is quite a lot since the cabin is a huge one. There are many cubbies and compartments offered. A helpful feature is the fold-flat storage option to make way for even more cargo.

The XLT comes nicely equipped for a workhorse truck. You get single-zone climate control, a 4-inch productivity screen, keyless entry, and cruise control. The infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Ford’s remarkable SYNC 4 system.

The interior colors offered on the 2023 F150 XLT are the following:

  • Carbonized Gray Metallic
  • Black with Baja Tan
  • Black with Medium Dark Slate

The standard safety equipment includes automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), a lane-keeping system, and reverse sensing. The options include a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and several trailering assist systems.

There’s a massive list of optional extras on this truck. You can opt for dual-zone climate control, push-button ignition and keyless entry, an interior work surface, power-adjustable pedals, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a larger 8-inch productivity screen.

The seats can be upgraded as well. The front ones can receive heating while the driver can also get 8-way power adjustability. You can make upgrades to the infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, and a premium 8-speaker sound system tuned by B&O.

Exterior and Driving

The 2023 Ford F150 has a larger-than-life appearance, and this applies to the XLT as well. It offers three truck bed lengths – 5.5-ft, 6.5-ft, and 8-ft. 17-inch wheels come as standard, but you can upgrade to various designs and finishes – available in 18- and 20-inch sizes.
The exterior colors on the 2023 F150 XLT are:

  • Agate Black Metallic
  • Antimatter Blue Metallic
  • Area 51 Blue
  • Atlas Blue Metallic
  • Avalanche
  • Carbonized Gray Metallic
  • Green
  • Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat
  • Iconic Silver Metallic
  • Orange
  • Oxford White Race Red
  • School Bus Yellow
  • Stone Gray Metallic
  • Vermillion Red Yellow

The 2023 F150 XLT drives brilliantly and has a commanding driving position. It handles and brakes well – you are sure to maintain control and confidence behind the wheel despite the truck’s size. The ride quality is also superb, with the cabin cancelling out all the noise. The truck should do quite well off-tarmac as well.

Reliability and Warranty

You can expect all the 2023 F150 models to be reliable machines as JD Power gives them a brilliant score of 86 out of 100. The reviews from their current owners are also quite positive so expect a lot dependability.

There are two warranties offered on the 2023 F150 XLT. The first is a limited warranty that covers you for 3 years/36k miles. The second is the powertrain components warranty that’s good for 5 years/60k miles. If you opt for the hybrid, you can get another warranty as well.

Verdict

It is easy to conclude that the 2023 Ford F150 should serve you well. It is a workhorse truck that allows you to trick it out with all the high-end options that you can imagine. It also offers a lot of equipment as standard, and should be a reliable truck for your business or a daily driver for you.
