2023 Ford F-150 XL Model Review

The Ford F150 is America’s favorite pickup truck that offers a variety of trim levels – so there’s something for every consumer out there. This means that Ford has also outdone themselves on its base model, the 2023 F150 XL.
The following is a review of this workhorse truck:
Powertrain and Numbers
The 2023 F150 XL is available with a variety of engines. There’s the 3.3-liter V6 that makes 290 hp and 265 lb-ft, the iconic 5-liter V8 that produces 400 hp and 410 lb-ft, the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 good for 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, and the 400-hp and 500 lb-ft making 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6.
You can also opt for the greener and cleaner 3.5-liter hybrid V6 engine making 430 hp and 570 lb-ft. A 10-speed automatic transmission is offered with all the engines; the hybrid has its own version. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but you can also get four-wheel drive.
The hybrid engine is the quickest here as it takes just 5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph. The maximum towing capacity goes up to 14,000 lbs if you equip this truck right. Meanwhile the maximum it can haul is 3250 lbs.
In the fuel-saving department, the hybrid is the best choice since it does up to 25 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. It is followed by the 2.7-liter EcoBoost that can deliver up to 20 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. Also, the 3.3-liter engine can do 19 mpg city: 24 highways.

Interior and Technology
The F150 XL may be the entry-level model, but it is built well with functionality and aestheticism in mind. No matter which body style you choose, the cabin is spacious and airy. The cubby storage is adequate as well.
The amenities include single zone climate control, keyless entry, a 4-inch instrumentation screen, and cruise control. The infotainment system consists of an 8-inch touchscreen, Ford’s SYNC 4 system, and WIFI hotspot.
For safety, you get automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), a lane-keeping system, a rearview camera, and reverse parking sensors.
Exterior and Driving
The 2023 F-150 XL may be a workhorse truck, but it looks handsome. It is available in three body styles – Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew. You can get it with a 5.5-ft, 6.5-ft, or 8-ft long truck bed size. 17-inch steel alloys are standard on this truck.
The exterior colors available on the 2023 F150 XL are the following:
- Agate Black Metallic

- Atlas Blue Metallic
- Carbonized Gray Metallic
- Stone Gray Metallic
- Green
- Orange

Unlike the half-ton trucks of old, the new F-150 2023 drives well for its size and class. It feels controlled over the corners and there’s a lot of power felt when you put your foot down.
